Mark Martin is racing in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season 2010
 (May 6, 2009) – Mark Martin will return to drive the No. 5 Chevrolets of Hendrick Motorsports for the whole 36-race NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season in 2010. It will be the 22nd full-time Cup crusade of Martin’s racing career and his second with car owner Rick Hendrick.  ”Week in and week out, Mark continues to be one of the best race car drivers in the world,” Hendrick said. “He’s already made an incredible Difference to Hendrick Motorsports, and our whole company is excited about running another Whole season and winning races with him in 2010.”

With his April 18 victory at Phoenix, Martin became just the fourth driver to record 400 top-10 finishes in Sprint Cup competition. It was his 36th occupation win in NASCAR’s top series.”It means a lot to drive the No. 5 Chevy for Rick and for Hendrick Motorsports,” said Martin, 50, of Batesville, Ark. “I’m in the best condition of my life, I’m recharged, and I’m motivated. Going to the racetrack every weekend is still really fun, and that’s the key. There’s more gas in my tank.”

 Martin, who has 5 victorys, 7 pole positions and 14 top-15 And 21 top 10 finishes through 36 races in 2009, will continue to work alongside crew chief Alan Gustafson in 2010. Gustafson has led the No. 5 team since 2005, recording 9 wins and two berths in NASCAR’s Chase for the Sprint Cup. Martin and Gustafson first worked together two years ago May 11, 2007 in the NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway. The pair ended second in the race.
